Top Executives at HBO, Fox Sports, and Reason Pictures Scheduled to Speak at the 2007 British American Business Council’s Transatlantic Conference in LA
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – April 24, 2007 – Top executives
at three of the nation’s leading entertainment companies will speak on “The
Future of Film and Television” at one of the most important transatlantic
business development and networking events of the year, the annual conference
of the British American Business Council. Registration is open to the
public.
Colin Callender,
president of HBO Films International, will join David Hill, Chairman and CEO,
Fox Sports TV Group, and Ben Goldhirsh, CEO of Reason Pictures and Good Magazine,
to discuss how the digital revolution is changing the entertainment industry.
The two-day
conference called FUTURE NOW will bring together prominent business leaders
from the United Kingdom and the United States to look at the effect of the
Internet and other emerging developments on entertainment and communications,
joint U.S.-U.K. efforts to combat climate change, the outlook for renewable
resources and homeland security. The conference will be held in Los Angeles
May 17-18 at the Marina Del Rey Marriott.

Colin
Callender joined HBO in 1987 as executive producer of “HBO Showcase,” where
he produced many award winning films. After 20 years with the company, he now
holds responsibility for the networks. Under Callender's watch, HBO Films has
garnered 39 Emmy® Awards, 18 Golden Globes, 4 Peabody Awards, and 9 Humanitas
Prizes. HBO received 26 Primetime Emmy awards this year — the most of
any network for the fourth year in a row — led by Elizabeth I, which
received nine awards.
David
Hill serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the FOX Sports
Television Group, overseeing the nation’s top-rated network for sports
and FOX’s global presence in sports media. He is also Executive Producer,
FOX Sports.
Ben
Goldhirsh is the owner and founder of Reason Industries, which owns
and operates GOOD magazine and Reason Pictures. Established in 2004,
Reason Pictures is a production company committed to developing and financing
projects that combine commercial entertainment with relevant content. Goldhirsch
is previewing a new movie at Tribeca Film Festival next week called "Power
of the Game" on the heels of his successful "Son of Rambo" and
has several other feature and documentary projects in various stages of development. Launched
in September, GOOD is a bi-monthly publication profiling and examining the
people, ideas, and institutions affecting change in the world.
The panel
on the Future of Film and Television will be held at 11:20 a.m. on the first
day of the conference, which is devoted to the Future of the Entertainment
and New Media Industries. Other topics that will be addressed on May 17 by

the keynote speakers at the BABC 2007 conference will be Timothy J. Leiweke,
President and CEO of Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), one of the world's
leading presenters of sports and entertainment programming, as well as the
developer and operator of such prestigious venues as STAPLES Center, The Home
Depot Center, the Kodak Theatre in LA and the Millennium Dome in London.
Attendees
also will meet visionaries such as Sean Moriarty, President and CEO of Ticketmaster;
Simon Wright, CEO of Virgin Entertainment Group; and Doug Perlman, President
of IMG Media, a global sports, entertainment and media company.
British
Consul General Bob Peirce will speak, as well as energy and environmental experts
from Arup, British Petroleum and several prestigious universities and
research centers in Southern California.
